Yia Yia's Poetry is poetry written for young children, from the heart. Each topic is from real life experiences with preschoolers, my children when they were young, and my young grandchildren. The hope is that these provide smiles and lessons to the little ones they are read to, to give them ease of knowing others have the same feelings, concerns, likes and dislikes. Perhaps these poems will also assist parents, grandparents and family members with helpful insights.

Help Me To See
Sometimes I get mad,
And shout or cry.
Don’t mean to be bad,
Just don’t know why.
I get these feelings,
They just come about.
And will be repeating,
Without a doubt.
Have patience with me,
I’m still learning.
All about me
And things confusing.

Bubble Gum
Chewing it,
It gets so soft,
Tasty too,
My wad of gum.
Juicy and sweet,
My mouth smiles,
I like this treat,
My wad of gum.
Blowing a bubble,
See it grow,
POP! All over my
face!
My wad of gum!

Baking
I like to help my mom bake,
I add the flour to make a cake.
Mom says to stir it well,
So the cake will turn out swell.
Add in oil and eggs, a few,
These help to make it moist, too.
The batter goes into the pan,
Into the oven to bake till tan.
When is cools it’s ready to ice,
This will make it look so nice!
The cake sure looks very tasty!
Now eat it slow, don’t be hasty!
