Who Do They Ask?

Critters gather nuts,
Crisp, solid and round.
Hiding them for winter,
Deep into the ground.

They prepare now for eating,
While the getting's good.
Because later in winter,
It'll be hard finding food.

How smart they are!
Diligent in their task!
How do they know?
Who do they ask?

Busy Ants

They come and go,
Scurry around –
All these ants
On the ground.

What workers they are!
How fast they go,
Hither and dither,
High and low.

So on task,
How do they know?
Who tells these ants,
Which way to go?
